After a long and grueling search and reading many reviews online I finally made my decision and purchased EchoMaster MRC-LP01CP for my rear view mirror camera system.and I'm glade I did. One of the reasons I choose this system was not just because of the price, but because of the the many videos I found on line helping with the install and the great reviews people had on EchoMasters technical support and customer service.
Being that I have little to no automotive mechanical or electrical experience I was a bit nervous when I decided to install this myself to save some cash. I began the install by watching many videos I found online to prepare me for the install as I do for any new task. Like usual I probably spent more time watching videos than it did to actually install it.
I was able to do the whole installation in my garage at home with very little tools needed and better yet tools that i already had (allen wrench, screw drivers, drill, etc.). As i am not experienced or mechanically inclined, from start to finish, the whole install took me about 2.5 hours to complete. I would have to imagine it would take someone half the time as I with a little more experience.
Non the less. I was very impressed with myself as the completed job looks identical to that of a factory installed mirror. The overall quality and viewing area of camera are exceptional and again appear to have the same look and feel as that of a factory installed system. The placement of the screen in rearview mirror is perfect as my eyes are already trained to look there while reversing and can still use the mirror if needed.
Price, quality, support and ease of install make this a great product and I would highly recommend this to whomever may be in the market for a reverse camera system. The installations process was relatively simple once i snaked everything through the side panels. It was about 2 hours to install it. The original Honda bracket for the rear view mirror worked perfectly for this one. It snapped right in with no modifications. The OEM look of the mirror is perfect since I'm replacing an auto dimming mirror.
NOTE: this is not an auto dimming mirror; It just has a anti glare film over the mirror which works very well at night with headlights hitting it directly. Camera quality is absolutely phenomenal during the day and night time is as bright as day time. It is very clear in low light situations. The guidance lines are very helpful. The camera draws power directly from one of the reverse lights and the mirror can be powered by simply tapping into the fuse box or another power source.
The wire is very long as I had about 5' still left after running it from the back. Overall I am very satisfied. This was a much cheaper and easier option than getting an OEM kit that goes into my factory navigation unit which would've been around $500 just for the parts. Well worth the money.
