I am sorry to say that, despite all of the hoops I tried to jump through, I still couldn't get MyDVD back up and running completely. WARNING: If you have Dell Part Number U7010 (alternatively, OU7010), which is labeled P/N C8489 Rev. A00, dated September 2004, you will NOT be able to reinstall Sonic MyDVD 5.3 LE software. The SETUP.EXE, INS9XMSI.EXE and INSNTMSI.EXE files ask for 2097143.91MB (yep, that's 2 TERABYTES) of free space in order to install. Sonic says it's not their fault, as they sell MyDVD and RecordNow separately - someone at Dell created this installation disk wrong, and it is terrible that it is probably shipping with every Dimension XP Media Center PC with a DVD burner they sell. Don't talk to tech support, don't talk to customer care, talk to SALES, refer them to this forum posting and have them ship you an alternative copy of WinDVD, Dell Part Number D0837 for free, until such time as they can GUARANTEE you that they are NOT just sending you ANOTHER copy of U7010.
I talked to five people, including a supervisor, I BEGGED them for an earlier or later revision of MyDVD, but no dice, they don't understand. Now I have TWO copies of C8489 Rev. I can use them as coasters, I guess.
