SiteDesigner

Site Designer a.k.a. Siteworks, uses Massing for a lot of the elements. When Siteworks was created, it was Revit 2011 or 2012 (i dont remember) and View Templates still had to manually be applied to views. So whenever you invoked a tool in SW that used massing, it prompted you, to ask which of the following options you wanted to do: 1. Make Masses visible in the current view only (it did it through VG:Model:Mass of the current view) 2. Make Masses visible in every view that exists in the project at the moment (it did it through VG:Model:Mass of every view that existed at that moment). Trouble is, if there are view templates assigned to the view (2013 functionality and newer), Siteworks fails to be able to change that, and evidently it doesnt fail gracefully.

That- combined with there not being a 3rd option to 'make no changes to any views-' makes it a bit more complicated to use. You have to basically make sure you ALWAYS use the option for *affect this view only* and always make sure the current view has no view templates. You can apply view templates after the fact, just not when youre creating Site elements. I also dont recall if it asks you every time, or just the first time.
